Where to explore first? The lounge is a meeting of cultures. Beautiful retained original features painted white, rattan peacock chairs and splendid cast iron fireplace topped with ornate mirror, speak of the opulence of colonial India. The rest is pure Africa.
Feast your eyes on the proud centrepiece – the full size tree slice table with informal assorted cane chairs. Suspended above, a mobile of bamboo lights. The washed wood units pay tribute to unstripped trees. The velvet smoky grey expansive sofa is the elephant in the room. Note the bold vivid colours of the African print floor rug and soft cushions. Everything is pure nature.
In the master bedroom, the dream continues. Marvel at the mighty Brazilian walnut platform bed, footed with matching triple door storage unit. Draw the nude gathered curtains across the glass wall, to give a feeling of oceans of space. Africa is here too – in the printed floor to ceiling curtains. Through the wall of glass, is the en suite. Glossy jade tiles with built in alcove, fall to a neat floating cabinet, and superb rustic earthenware bowl of a sink. Left, the superior walk-in rain shower, right, the freestanding bath- neither disappoints. Pendant lights throughout, provide just enough glamour.
The other bedrooms are a statement in their understatement. Without the majesty of the master bedroom but no less charming with their elegant beech wood, gathered curtain front wardrobes and ornate carved headboards.
The other bathrooms are no less interesting. One follows the same jade colour scheme, with quirkier fittings. Check out the vase like basin! The second bathroom departs from the colour scheme and is richer for its fruit coloured tiles – watermelon, strawberry and raspberry.
